More Information

MY NAME IS KASPAR HAUSER AND I AM GOING TO TELL YOU MY STORY .
THE CELLAR I HAVE ALWAYS LIVED IN is ABOUT 6 FEET LONG AND 4 FEET WIDE .

i HAVE A WOODEN HORSE .

i HAVE RED AND BLUE RIBBONS .

THE FLOOR IS MADE OF DIRT .

THE TWO SMALL WINDOWS BLOCKED BY BOARDS ARE ENTIRELY DARK .

THERE IS STRAW ON THE GROUND WHERE I SIT AND SLEEP .
IT NEVER OCCURS TO ME TO WANT STAND UP .

THERE IS A HOLE IN THE FLOOR WITH A BUCKET IN IT .

WHEN I WAKE UP THERE IS A PIECE OF BREAD AT MY SIDE ...

AND A LITTLE JUG OF WATER .
WHEN THERE IS NO WATER LEFT , i PUT DOWN THE JUG ....

AND WAIT A MOMENT TO SEE IF THERE WON'T BE SOME MORE ...

..BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW THAT THE WATER AND BREAD ARE BROUGHT TO

JUST AS IT DOESN'T OCCUR TO ME THAT THERE COULD BE ANYBODY ELSE OUTSIDE ME .
ONE DAY A MAN IN BLACK APPEARS .

I WILL TEACH YOU TO WRITE !

handwritten on paper; Kaspar Hauser

i NEVER HEAR HIM COME AND GO .
ANOTHER TIME THE MAN IN BLACK BRINGS A LITTLE BOOK .

HORSE .

HORSE .

HORSE .

HORSE .
FOR A WHILE , A FEW WEEKS OR A FEW MONTHS , THE MAN IN BLACK COMES BACK OFTEN TO SHOW ME HOW TO READ AND WRITE .
THE NIGHT HE COMES TO GET ME , I'M SOUND ASLEEP .

HE PROPS ME UP AGAINST THE WALL .
HE TAKES MY TWO ARMS AND PUTS THEM AROUND HIS NECK .

THERE IS A BIG HILL .

FALL ASLEEP .

WHEN WAKE UP , THE MAN IN BLACK Picks ME UP AND TEACHES ME TO WALK .

i BEGIN TO CRY . i EXPERIENCE GREAT SUFFERING IN MY FEET .
YOU HAVE TO STOP CRYING RIGHT NOW OR ELSE YOU WON'T GET A HORSE .

HORSE !

i WANT TO BE A HORSEMAN LIKE MY FATHER WAS .

REPEAT !

i WANT TO BE A HORSEMAN LIKE MY FATHER WAS .

i START TO CRY BECAUSE MY FEET AND MY HEAD , BUT ESPECIALLY MY EYES , ARE CAUSING ME SO MUCH PAIN .
IT'S TIME TO LIE DOWN .

HORSE . HOUSE .

THE MAN IN BLACK PUTS SOMETHING SOFT UNDER MY FACE . I FALL ASLEEP .

WHEN I WAKE UP , HE SETS ME BACK ON MY FEET .

YOU NEED TO LEARN TO WALK .

i WANT TO BE A HORSEMAN LIKE MY FATHER WAS .

REPEAT AFTER ME !
IT STARTS TO RAIN .

i BEGIN TO GET COLD .

HA ! HA ! YOU GOT SOAKED !

ALRIGHT ! YOU NEED TO LEARN TO WALK ON YOUR OWN NOW !

LOOK WHERE YOU'RE GOING !

i NEVER LOOK UP BECAUSE MY EYES HURT .
WE'VE ARRIVED ! YOU'RE IN NUREMBERG .

TAKE THIS LETTER !

i WANT TO BE A HORSEMAN LIKE MY FATHER WAS .

i WANT TO BE A HORSEMAN LIKE MY FATHER WAS .

GOOD LUCK !

i STAY STANDING WHERE I AM .
