Alta Ifland was born in Romania and emigrated to the United States in 1991. Her bilingual book of prose poems (written in French and translated by herself into English), Voice of Ice, was awarded the French Prize Louis Guillaume, and her collection of short stories, Elegy for a Fabulous World, came out in 2009. She lives in Northern California .
