We Have a New Blog Editor!

We’re pleased to welcome Katrine Øgaard Jensen as the new blog editor of Words without Borders. She joined us this week and has hit the ground running with new, exciting plans for our Dispatches blog.

Katrine comes to us with experience as a literary translator, editor, journalist, and writer of fiction and poetry. She most recently worked as blog editor and Danish editor at large at international literature journal Asymptote and as editor in chief of Columbia University’s literary journal, Columbia: A Journal of Literature and Art. Katrine is a two-time Thanks to Scandinavia scholar and the recipient of numerous grants for her writing and journalism. Most recently, she earned a grant from the Danish Arts Foundation for her translation of Ursula Andkjær Olsen’s award-winning poetry collection Third-Millennium Heart, which is forthcoming from Broken Dimanche Press in 2016. For the past two years, Katrine has also been giving out awards herself, as a judge for Three Percent’s Best Translated Book Award. Katrine began her career as a journalist in Denmark, writing stories for magazines and national newspapers such as Morgenavisen Jyllands-Posten and Weekendavisen. She also worked as a news editor of two online publications covering electronics and renewable energy. In 2013, she was accepted into Columbia University’s creative writing MFA program, majoring in fiction and literary translation. During her time at Columbia, she received several scholarships and fellowships, most recently the Creative Writing Teaching Fellowship to teach fiction in the university’s undergraduate creative writing program in the spring of 2016. Katrine has previously taught creative writing in Columbia’s summer high school program and at the performing arts high school Frank Sinatra School of the Arts.

Welcome, Katrine!
