Wladimir Kaminer

Wladimir Kaminer is one of Germany’s most popular young writers. His fifth book, Die Reise nach Trulala (The Journey to La-la-land), where the excerpt published here originally appeared, was recently published. Kaminer was born in the former Soviet Union in 1967, and emigrated to what was then East Germany in 1990. He lives in Berlin with his wife and two children.
