Shimo Suntila (b. 1973) set out to become a writer in the beginning of 2012. He challenged himself to write one drabble (a story of exactly 100 words) every day for an entire year, and succeeded. His first book came out in 2013 sporting a hundred of his best drabbles.
Suntila has written over twenty short stories, as well as over 400 drabbles, and has been published in several Finnish science fiction magazines, as well as over fifteen anthologies. He won the first URS writing competition and earned third place in the prestigious Portti writing competition, both in 2012. He lives with a partner and two daughters in Turku, which has burned down several times throughout history but not once during his lifetime, and works in the IT customer service field. Since late 2012 he has been a worker-owner in the co-op publishing house Osuuskumma, which specializes in science fiction, fantasy, horror, and weird literature.
