Born in Santiago, Chile, Nona Fernández is an actress and writer and has published two plays, a collection of short stories, and six novels, including Space Invaders (2019) and The Twilight Zone (2021), both translated by Natasha Wimmer. Her books include the story collection El Cielo (2000) and the novels Mapocho (2002), Av.
(2007), Fuenzalida (2012), and Chilean Electric (2015). She has won the Premio Municipal de Literatura twice, and received the National Book Council Prize for Best Book for Chilean Electric, and the Premio Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz for La Dimensión Desconocida (2016). Fernández’s works for the theater include El Taller (2012) and Liceo de Niñas (2016), which were both performed by her theater company La Pieza Oscura. Her works have been translated into Italian, French, and German.
