Born and raised in Mexico, Martha Batiz was named one of the Top Ten Most Influential Hispanic Canadians in 2015. Her publications include two collections of short stories, A todos los voy a matar (Mexico, 2000) and De Tránsito (Puerto Rico, 2014); the novella Boca de lobo (Premio Casa de Teatro, Dominican Republic, 2007), published in English as The Wolf’s Mouth (Exile Editions, 2009); and her English translation of Guillermo del Toro’s Hitchcock. She coordinated and translated stories into Spanish for the anthology Desde el norte: narrativa canadiense contemporánea (Mexico, 2015). She works at York University and the University of Toronto.
