Jadd Hilal was born on July 4, 1987 in the surroundings of Geneva. He studied French and Anglophone literature in France, before moving to Scotland, then Switzerland. He earned his PhD in literature in 2011 and lives now in Paris suburbs where he teaches philosophy and literature in high school.
His Des ailes au loin (2018) won the Grand Prix du Roman Métis, the Prix Métis des Lycéens, and the Prix de la Première Œuvre Littéraire Francophone. His Une baignoire dans le désert (2021) won the Prix des lycéens et apprentis d’Île-de-France. In 2023, he published Le caprice de vivre.
