Hubert Tézenas

Hubert Tézenas was born in Paris in 1962. After a chaotic period of study (three years at the École Normale Sup and three months at Sciences Po in Paris), he abruptly gave up everything and moved by himself to Brazil in 1985, immediately falling in love with the country....

After seeking jobs in two or three different regions of the country, he became a translator of romance novels to finance his travels before later specializing in noir literature. Returning to France after ten years, he became the translator of such writers as Robert Crais, Mo Hayder, Ed McBain, Elizabeth George, Tess Gerritsen, Eric Larson, Jim Thompson, James Sallis, and James Grady. Recently, he also translated two important Brazilian writers to french, Alberto Mussa and Edney Silvestre. Author photo: © Sylvie R. Robert.
