Charles La Shure has lived in Korea, where he studies and translates Korean literature, among other things, since 1995. In 2011 he completed his doctoral studies at Seoul National University in classical Korean literature, specializing in oral literature, and he has been teaching Korean-English translation in the Graduate School of Interpretation and Translation at the Hankuk University of Foreign Studies since 2008. His literary translations include Black Flower, an historical novel by Kim Young-ha.
