Beka Kurkhuli was born in 1974 in Tbilisi and published his first novellas in the newspaper Mamuli in 1991. His stories have appeared regularly in literary magazines. He worked as a war reporter visiting different parts of Georgia and conflict regions in other parts of the Caucasus, including Abkhazia, South and North Ossetia, Ingushetia, Azerbaijan and the Pankisi Gorge, and Afghanistan. His first book, Full Stop . . . Lost People from Lost Territories, was published in 2004. He won the 2016 SABA Literary Award for Best Novel for Runaways from Paradise and the 2014 Revaz Inanishvili One Story Literary Award for Previous Day.
