Bora Chung was shortlisted for the National Book Award for Translated Literature in 2023 and the International Booker Prize in 2022. She was born in Seoul in 1976. She has written three novels and three collections of short stories. Chung has an MA in Russian and East European area studies from Yale University and a PhD in Slavic literature from Indiana University.
