Submissions

Words without Borders publishes original translations into English of fiction, nonfiction, poetry, drama, and interviews. We do not publish literature written in English, and we do not consider work that has already been published in English translation. We welcome submissions for our upcoming issues on the Silk Road, the oil industry, non-Scandinavian crime, and graphic novels. We no longer accept general submissions.  We will consider up to five poems from a single contributor. The average prose submission is about 2500 words, but we do publish shorter and longer pieces. We prefer short stories, but will consider novel extracts that stand as independent pieces. Submissions must include a biographical summary of the author and information on the original publication and background of the piece. Translators need not secure rights, but should ascertain that rights are available. Submissions may be sent to submissions@wordswithoutborders.org.
