Lorca in New York: A Celebration: the largest-ever festival in North America celebrating the work of acclaimed Spanish poet and playwright Federico García Lorca. With more than two dozen events throughout Manhattan, it focuses on the brief but prolific period (1929-1930), during which Lorca came to New York and wrote one of his most significant works, Poet in New York.

Join us as special guests who have devoted much time to reading, writing about and translating Lorca, recite favorite passages from Lorca’s Poet in New York. With Paul Auster, Aracelis Girmay, John Giorno, Wayne Koestenbaum, Rowan Ricardo Phillips,Mónica de la Torre, Frederic Tuten, and more.

what: Amancio Prada: Ode to Federico García Lorca (Concert)
Guitarist, vocalist, and composer Amancio Prada, acclaimed for his soulful settings of classic and contemporary poetry, performs “Los sonetos del amor oscuro” & “otros poemas gallegos” written by Federico García Lorca, as well as poems by Rosalía de Castro. In Spanish (The English translation of the poems will be provided).
