Words Without Borders is pleased to announce the election of acclaimed author Calvin Baker to its Board of Directors. 

“I am a great admirer of Calvin’s writing. A brilliant writer and educator with a passion for international literature, he will bring valuable expertise and insight to WWB's leadership,” said Samantha Schnee, Chair. “Words Without Borders’ trustees and I are all delighted to welcome him to the board.”

Calvin Baker is the author of four internationally acclaimed novels and a recent book of creative nonfiction, A More Perfect Reunion: Race, Integration, and the Future of America. His essays on film, literature, and politics have appeared in Harper’s Magazine, The Atlantic, and the New York Times Magazine. He has taught at Yale and Columbia Universities; the University of Leipzig, Germany, where he held the Picador Visiting Chair in American Studies; and is currently Distinguished Writer in Residence at Skidmore College.
