The Man Booker shortlist was recently announced. The top six books were written by British, Indian, and Malaysian writers. The 2012 prize winner will be revealed on October 16.

what: The German Book Office New York and the Goethe-Institut New York are sponsoring a translation competition for aspiring German translators. Contestants will submit translations of a pre-determined 700-word excerpt from Nora Bossong’s new novel, Gesellschaft mit beschraenkter Haftung.Translators must be US-based and should not have more than one translated book published in English. No age restrictions apply.

Call for Papers and PhD Abstracts
The editors of New Voices in Translation Studies are looking for article submissions and abstracts of recently completed and defended doctoral theses for publication in the next issue (May 2013). New Voices in Translation Studies is a refereed electronic journal co-sponsored by IATIS and the Centre for Translation and Textual Studies (CTTS) at Dublin City University. The aim of the journal is to disseminate high quality, original work by new researchers in Translation and Interpreting Studies to a wide, international audience.
