Slovak author Soňa Uriková studied screenwriting and dramaturgy at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava. She published her first book, the short story collection Živé ploty (Live fences), in 2015 and followed with another collection of short stories Dôvod na radosť (Reason for joy) in 2022.
