Ravi Shankar co-directs the Creative Writing Program at Central Connecticut State University and founded Drunken Boat, the international online journal of the arts. His books include Seamless Matter, Voluptuous Bristle, Instrumentality, and Wanton Textiles, co-written with Reb Livingston. Along with Tina Chang and Nathalie Handal, he co-edited Norton’s Language for a New Century: Contemporary Poetry from Asia, the Middle East & Beyond, called “a beautiful achievement for world literature” by Nadine Gordimer. He has read his work on radio and around the world, currently holds a fellowship from the Djerassi Artist Residency and the Connecticut Commission on the Arts for this summer and teaches in the first international MFA Program at City College in Hong Kong. Norah Jones is not among his daughters.
