Roop Bhawani (1625–1721) lived in Srinagar, and is one of the most important poets of the Kashmiri mystic tradition. Her poetry takes the form of the vaakh, "invented" in the fourteenth century by Lal Ded, and is steeped in the beliefs and practices of Kashmiri Shaivism.
