Born in São Paulo, Brazil, in 1964, Renato Rezende earned a B.A degree from the University of Massachusetts, Boston, where he lived for almost ten years. He is a poet, writer, and translator, mainly of poetry, philosophy, and contemporary art. His poetry books include Aura (1997), Asa (1999), Leaves of Paradise (2000), Passeio (2001), and Ímpar (2005), the recipient of the 2005 National Library Award for the best book of poetry.
