Petra Soukupová (b. 1982) studied screenwriting at the Academy of Performing Arts (FAMU) in Prague. From 2008 to 2010 she wrote for the Czech sitcom Comeback, and since 2011 she has been writing for the soap opera Ulice (Street). She has published three novels.
Her first, K moři (2007; To the Seaside), won the Jiří Orten Prize (best work of prose or poetry by an author 30 or under) and was shortlisted for the Magnesia Litera Award for Prose. Her second, Zmizet (2009; Disappear), received the Magnesia Litera Award for Book of the Year and was shortlisted for the Josef Škvorecký Prize. It has sold more than 20,000 copies in Czech. Her works have been translated into four languages.
