On Barak is a social and cultural historian of science and technology in nonwestern settings. He is a senior lecturer at the Department of Middle Eastern & African History in Tel Aviv University. Barak has taught at Princeton University and New York University. He is a recipient of numerous fellowships and awards, including grants from the Social Science Research Council, the National Science Foundation, and the European Union’s Marie Curie program. Barak has translated poetry and prose, as well as academic and cinematic texts, from and to Hebrew, Arabic, and English.
