Olivia M. Coetzee was born in Mariental, a small town in the southern part of Namibia, and grew up in Electric City, a suburb in Cape Town, South Africa.  She holds a master’s degree in creative writing from the University of the Western Cape and plans to continue her academic career, working on PhD research around the history of Kaaps.
