Mercedes Monmany (Barcelona, 1957) is the author of Una infancia de escritor (Xordica, 1997), Don Quijote en los Cárpatos (Huerga and Fierro, 2009), and Vidas de mujer (Alliance, 1999). She has translated work by Francis Ponge, Attilio Bertolucci, and Philippe Jaccottet, and edited volumes by authors including Alvaro Mutis, Margaret Atwood, Bánffy Miklós, and Gesualdo Bufalino. She edits the literary essay series La Rama Dorada published by Huerga and Fierro. One of the most important literary critics in Spain, she contributes to numerous publications and writes a weekly column for the cultural supplement of the newspaper ABC.
