Mehr Farooqi is an associate professor of Middle Eastern and South Asian languages and cultures at the University of Virginia. Her research interests include translation, literary modernism, intersections between religion and literature, history, and art history. She is the author of Urdu Literary Culture and Vernacular Modernity in the Writing of Muhammad Hasan Askari (2012) and the editor of The Oxford India Anthology of Modern Urdu Literature (2008).
