Maria Kozlovskaya was born in Moscow. She graduated from Moscow State University, English department, with an MA in linguistics and has been translating from and into English since. She has translated drama and poetry for, among others, the Royal Court Theatre, Royal Shakespeare Company, Literature Across Frontiers, and English PEN. She has also been a consultant on the translation of Chekhov for BBC Radio 3.
