Mandy Hewett translates from French and Italian into English. She has been translating for over a decade, having come to working as a translator quite late in life as a survivor from the world of IT.
Literature and translation have, however, always been part of her life, from reading books in translation, studying languages, immersing herself in life in other countries, and finally becoming a translator. Every stage has taught her something about how the world ticks and it is this aspect of working as a translator that thrills her most: she learns something from every act of translation.
Mandy lives in New Zealand, where she divides her time between translation and volunteering in biodiversity conservation.
