Reunionese and Malagasy, Magali Nirina Marson received her doctorate in French and comparative literature from the Sorbonne and is currently a senior lecturer at the University of Antananarivo, specializing in older Malagasy texts and post-colonial Francophone literature. She has also edited several issues of literary journals on literature from the Indian Ocean. Her own fiction, giving voice to those on her native island who cannot speak for themselves, has been published in magazines like Riveneuve Continents.
