Lira Konys is a Kazakh writer whose short fiction became essential reading for a generation of Kazakh women who came of age during the first decade of this century. She has published four collections of short stories and novellas. She holds degrees in Middle Eastern and Asian studies and philology from the Ahmed Yasawi University and works as a linguistics researcher.
