Lee Gi-ho was born in 1972 in Wonju, Gangwon Province. "Earnie" (1999) was his first published story, later included in his collection of stories, The Tale of Choe Sun-deok and Her Spirited-Filled Life (2004). He is the recipient of a creative writing grant from the Daesan Foundation.
