Latife Tekin

Latife Tekin was born in 1957. In the first novel she published, Sevgili Arsiz Olum (Dear Shameless Death, 1983), Tekin told the story of a family which had to migrate to the big city and the difficulties they had to overcome, in the style of a fairy tale. Her other novels are Berci Kristin Cop Masallari (Berci Kristin Tales from the Garbage Hills, 1984), Gece Dersleri (Night Lessons, 1986), Buzdan Kiliclar (Swords of Ice, 1989), Ask Isaretleri (Signs of Love, 1995). Her fiction is clearly in the genre that has been duly dubbed as "magic realism." Tekin has been translated into Dutch, English, German, French and Italian.
