Kristin Bengtson Mendoza

Kristin Bengtson Mendoza received a Fulbright grant in 2004-2005 to study folklore, language, and culture in the western highlands of Guatemala. She has translated the journals of Mexican painter Remedios Varo as well as a selection of stories from Stories of Joyabaj by Francisco Méndez. She is currently at work on translations of oral histories from the town of San Mateo Ixtatán in Huehuetenango, Guatemala. She teaches English as a Second Language and lives in Brooklyn, New York.
