Kjell Westö was born in 1961....

He is the author of the novels Där vi en gång gått (Where We Used to Wander, 2006), Lang (2002), Vådan av att vara Skrake (The Curse of Being Skrake, 2000), Drakarna över Helsingfors (Kites Above Helsinki, 1996), the short-story collections Lugna favoriter (Mellow Favorites, 2004), Fallet Bruus (The Bruus Case, 1992), Utslag och andra noveller (1989, Shot and other stories), and the volumes of poetry Avig-Bön (1989, Avig Prayer, written under the pseudonym Anders Hed), Epitaph över Mr. Nacht (Epitaph for Mr. Nacht, 1988), and Tango Orange (1986). His works have been translated into Finnish, German, English, Russian, Romanian, Dutch, Polish, Danish, Latvian, Norwegian, French, Estonian, Italian, Lithuanian, and Bulgarian. He is the recipient of the Finlandia Prize (2006), the Shadow Finlandia Prize (2006), the Swedish Culture Fund Prize (2004), the Helsinki Medallion (2002), the Shadow Finlandia Prize (2001), the Thank You for the Book Medallion (1997), Young Finland Prize (1996), and the National Prize for Literature (1990).
