Poet and essayist Ketty Nivyabandi was born in Belgium in 1978. She currently lives and works in her hometown, Bujumbura, Burundi. Her poetry, written mostly in French, has appeared in World Literature Today and in several anthologies. In 2012 Nivyabandi was selected to represent Burundi in the London Poetry Parnassus as part of the Summer Olympics.
