K.S. Sivakumaran is a translator with the government, a radio announcer in both Tamil and English, an English teacher in Sri Lanka and abroad, a copy editor, and author of thirty books in Tamil and two in English. He was honored as the best English columnist by the Press Institute of Colombo and the College of Journalism in 2007. Having held staff positions at the foremost English- (The Island, The Daily News) and Tamil-language (Virakesari and Navamani), newspapers, he now writes literary columns in English- and Tamil-language newspapers as a freelancer.
