Julio Ramón Ribeyro (1929-94) is considered one of the greatest Latin American short-story writers. Born and raised in Peru, he spent much of his adult life in Paris. He published dozens of books, including novels, plays, journals, and essays. His best-known collection of short stories is Los gallinazos sin plumas (Featherless Buzzards, 1955).
