Jill Timbers

Jill Timbers is a freelance Finnish-English translator. Her literary translations have appeared in anthologies and journals, including With Signs and Wonders, Connecting Souls, Two Lines, Words without Borders and World Literature Today. Intrigued by the unusual Finnish language, she headed to Helsinki after graduating from Smith College and worked there as a bike mechanic while taking language and literature courses at the University of Helsinki. She later worked at IBM-Helsinki and still later was an ALA/USIA Library Fellow at the University of Tampere. She and her Finnish husband live in Illinois.
