Jesse Irwin, an MFA candidate in the Creative Writing and Translation Program at the University of Arkansas, translates from Russian. As a teenager, he grew up in post-Soviet Ukraine and Russia and studied piano at the Academic Music College of the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory before moving to Arkansas. His translation of “Grandmother’s Little Hut” is included in Fourteen Little Red Huts and Other Plays, published by Columbia University Press. His translations of poems are part of a joint-translation project of poems about the city of Moscow with B.S.G. Press in Russia.
