Jane Roffe’s career in translation began in the 1990s with off-the-cuff renditions of French picture books into English for her own children; she found this so much fun that she signed up to sit the Institute of Linguists’ Diploma in Translation and has been working as a freelance translator ever since. She is currently working on translations of a prize-winning YA novel, L’aube sera grandiose by Anne-Laure Bondoux, and a polemical memoir, On ne naît pas grosse by Gabrielle Deydier.
