Hicham Benohoud was born in 1968 in Marrakech and now divides his time between Paris and Casablanca. His work in painting, video, and contemporary art installation often questions identity, beginning with the artist’s own. He has had numerous exhibitions throughout Morocco and abroad, including at the international art fair Africa Remix, the Aperture Foundation in New York, and the Arab World Institute in Paris. His work can also be found in La Maison Rouge - Fondation Antoine de Galbert in Paris, Le Fonds National d’Art Contemporain in Paris, the Art Lending Library of Nantes, the Nationale Chalcography at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Madrid, and the M HKA in Anvers. Two monographs have been published on his art: La Salle de classe (2001) and Des Lycéens par eux mêmes (2002).
