Haregu Keleta

Haregu Keleta is a former member of the Eritrean armed struggle for independence. She later worked as a journalist in Eritrea for seventeen years, where her short stories also appeared in local newspapers, magazines, and anthologies. Three of her short stories were published in Eritrean anthologies.  "The Girl Who Carried a Gun" is taken from 14 Hatserti Zantatat:  Ewutat Festival Ertra 2008 Kalo’otn (2009).   She is currently media and public relations chair of the Eritrean American Cultural Institute
