Gabriel Garcia Roman was born in Zacatecas, Mexico, and raised in Chicago. He received his BA from the City College of New York, where he studied studio art. Garcia Roman is a mixed media artist who is constantly looking for ways to mold and push the limits of the medium, whether it’s printmaking, woodworking or ceramics. Queer Icons, his most recent body of work, looks at the QTPoC community, a disenfranchised community, and turns them into heavenly beings. The work has been displayed at the International Center for Photography, the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, and the Center for Photography at Woodstock. He currently lives and works in New York City.
