Ethan Chorin was one of the first US diplomats to return to Libya in 2004–6, after the lifting of international sanctions. He is the editor of Translating Libya, a collection of translations of sixteen Libyan short stories, and is cofounder of the Avicenna Group, which is building a medical training center in Benghazi, and which publishes LibyaWire. He is finishing a book on the roots of the 2011 Libyan uprising, to be published in Spring 2012.
