Erica Weitzman began learning Albanian while working in Kosovo for the international humanitarian organization Balkan Sunflowers from February 2000 to June 2001. Her translations have been published in 91st Meridian, Two Lines: World Writing in Translation (no.
14), and Portals: A Journal of Comparative Literature. Her translation of Kosovar poet Valentina Saraçini's second book of poetry, Dreaming Escape, is forthcoming in Spring 2008 from Ugly Duckling Presse. She is currently a doctoral candidate in comparative literature at New York University.
