Diana Glad was born in the United States and has lived in Peru, Spain, and France, and studied at the University of San Marcos, Lima; the University of Madrid; and the Sorbonne, Paris. She holds a Ph.D. in Romance Languages and Literature from Emory University and is associate professor of contemporary Spanish literature at Spelman College in Atlanta. In 1985, she taught comparative linguistics and translation theory at the University of Alicante, Spain. She has translated the Spanish novelists Rosa Montero and Carlos Rojas.
