David Frier is Honorary Research Fellow in Portuguese at the University of Leeds and a Researcher at the Centre for Lusophone and European Literatures and Cultures at the University of Lisbon. He has published widely on modern Portuguese literature, in particular on Camilo Castelo Branco, José Saramago and Eça de Queirós, and is the author of The Novels of José Saramago: Echoes from the Past, Pathways into the Future (Cardiff, University of Wales Press, 2007) and editor of Pessoa in an Intertextual Web: Influence and Innovation (London: Legenda, 2012).
