Daniil Kharms (1905-1942) was one of the founders of OBERIU, often described as Russia'?s last avant-garde group. His books in English translation include Incidences, translated by Neil Cornwell (Serpent's Tail, 1993) and The Man with the Black Coat, translated by George Gibian (Northwestern UP, 1997). His work is also included in the forthcoming OBERIU: An Anthology of Russian Absurdism (Northwestern UP, 2005).
