Born in Lages, Santa Catarina, in 1952, Cristovão Tezza is one of the great writers from Curitiba, a city in the south of Brazil where he has lived since he was a boy....

A university professor and regular contributer to various newspapers and author of an academic essay on Mikhail Bakhtin (Entre a prosa e a poesia, 2003), he has secured, with ten novels, a key place in Brazilian literature over the past two decades. Among the most notable of these are Trapo (1988), Breve espaço entre cor e sombra (1998), and O fotógrafo (2004).
