Bill Johnston won the 2012 PEN Translation Prize and Three Percent’s Best Translated Book Award for 2012 for his translation of Wiesław Myśliwski’s Stone Upon Stone (Archipelago Books). His other translations include Tadeusz Różewicz’s new poems, for which he received the inaugural Found in Translation Award; Witold Gombrowicz’s Bacacay; Andrzej Stasiuk’s Dukla and Fado; and books by Magdalena Tulli, Stanisław Lem, and Eugeniusz Tkaczyszyn-Dycki. His most recent translation is Wiesław Myśliwski’s A Treatise on Shelling Beans (Archipelago Books, 2013). Currently a Guggenheim Fellow, he teaches at Indiana University.
