B. Odgerel was born in 1967 and lives in Ulaanbaatar.  With B. Galsansuh, G-A. Ayurzana and L. Ölziigögs, he has for many years been at the forefront of the Mongolian modernist poetry scene.  His book The Unknown Guest, from which "The Sound of Pigeons in Flight" is taken, was published in 2004, and includes translations of the medieval French poet François Villon in addition to Odgerel's own work.
